Details, Costs, Contacts
Low Cost, High Quality: While STW is the premier training ground for the community service world’s next generation of leaders, we are working especially hard in these difficult economic times to keep costs low. We did NOT increase our rates this year in an effort to help our families be able to afford this experience.
What is STW doing to keep the cost of WW affordable?
We at Spark the Wave are well aware of the economic hardship that many are facing these days. As such, we have done everything in our power to keep the cost of Wave Week as affordable as possible. How are we able to undercharge other leadership-type camps by 25, 50 and even 100%?? VOLUNTEER HORSEPOWER! We have a dedicated group of volunteers who each give literally hundreds of hours of their time to make Wave Week happen. This is the main reason that we can bring this life altering training to the young people we serve. We still understand that this may be a stretch for you this year and we very much appreciate you considering making the investment in the future of not just one young person but our community.

SIT’s: Staff in Training (SIT) members are an integral part of the Wave Week team. They act as our direct liaison between the campers and the staff during Wave Week. You must apply to become an SIT and must have attended Wave Week in the past. If you are applying to be an SIT, the cost of WW is reduced to $599. Please note: Limited scholarship funds are available for SIT applicants in need of assistance.
Commuter Camp: This option offers participants a chance to partake in all of the activities of Wave Week but at a decreased cost. These campers perform all the service and do all the same experiential learning of our residential campers. In addition, they get to be part of all of the evening social & service activities at WW (volleyball tourney, WW social, dance, STW Night of Service, and talent show). Our commuters start each day with us between 8:15 and 8:30am, while their day runs until sometime between 8:15 and 10:45 pm depending on the nightly activities/service planned. Obviously you can pick up your son/daughter earlier if this conflicts with your schedule.
Please Note: Spark the Wave has a few full and partial scholarships available to defray the costs for individuals who would not otherwise be able to attend. If you wish to apply for a scholarship, please include your Scholarship Application Form with your Wave Week Application Form. (Send a check, as directed on the Scholarship Application Form, along with both forms when applying.)
The daily schedule gives students a mix of learning, group projects and free time to spend with new friends. There’s also a lot of social time, a dance, talent show, and of course service projects where you’ll get to put what you’ve learned into action!

Tracks: Returning Campers Can Choose From One of 2 Paths
Note: Participants are welcome to return to either path for as many years as they would like.
Regular Path: These participants will focus on solidifying basic leadership, communication, and project planning skills. They will also be exposed to one of three advanced classes: Fundraising, Finance, or Marketing. They will broaden their awareness of their own leadership styles, and examine the way their actions affect the world around them.
If you choose this path, you will participate with the 1st years campers in all activities. Our hope is that you will share your experience, wisdom and leadership strengths with this new group of campers. In addition, we expect that you will take a more substantial leadership position within activities and the project planning session.
To apply for this path simply send in your WW application. We can’t wait to have you back!
Staff In Training (SIT) Path: Participants on this path will take the next step of training on their STW journey. SIT’s will split there time between working on activities with 1st year campers and spending time working on advanced training just with other SIT’s.
SITs will come to camp at the same time as other campers. From there they will learn the basics of facilitating and observing classroom and color group discussions. They will be assigned to an operations committee that participates in behind-the-scenes planning with staff members; and will serve as mentors and coaches for the first year campers.
To apply for this path you have to complete a WW Application. In addition, you will need to submit a SIT Supplemental Application. You will then be informed within a few weeks, whether you have been accepted. There are limited spaces for this path.
